About this Event
Summer is for good food, warmth, and good company – and that’s why we’re organizing Newcomers In Ottawa’s Canada Day Weekend Potluck together in beautiful Andrew Haydon Park.
BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL, TICKETS ARE LIMITED (kids under 12 free if accompanied by an adult with ticket).
RSVP your ticket here : http://bit.ly/RSVPHERENIO
A Cultural Potluck is when everyone brings food to share on large tables together. Either bring a main course dish, or a dessert – something that people can take small servings of and eat a little bit of everything. To ensure that we have enough food, we ask that every family/couple bring enough food for the number of people they have registered, plus a guest (eg. If you booked as a family of 5, bring enough food for 6-7 people).
All the food will be placed on a large share table where people will be able to take little servings of lots of dishes – this is a great way for us to try food from around the globe as many people bring food from their cultural background to share.
PLEASE BRING: (a) serving utensils for your dish, and (b) a post-it note (or piece of paper) indicating the name of your dish and (if applicable) if your dish is vegan (V), vegetarian (VEG), Gluten Free (GF), or dairy free (DF). This will help people choose food that suits their dietary requirements or taste.
Some suggestions for appropriate MAIN COURSE dishes may include – curries, casseroles, lasagne/pasta/rice, salads, plate of carved meat, plate of mixed vegetables, stir-fries… think outside of the box!
PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT HAVE ANY COOKING OR HEATING FACILITIES AVAILABLE IN THE PARK. WE WILL HAVE BBQ PIT where you can BBQ your food !!!
Some suggestions for DESSERTS may include – fruit platter, pies/tarts, chocolate mousse/cake/brownie, dumplings, pudding, small biscuits, pavlova etc. PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT HAVE ANY FRIDGES OR FREEZERS AVAILABLE IN THE PARK.
